SURIA Capital Bhd,
the parent company of Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, has approved RM400 million to
expand and improve port facilities and services at the seven ports under
the control of its operating company.
Almost 40 per cent, or RM167.68
million, had been contracted during the financial year ended December 31
2004. The remaining RM230 million will be contracted out soon.
The bulk of the capital expenditure
will go towards the development of the Sepangar Bay container terminal
which will took up RM93.59 million as at the end of 2004.
The port is expected to be completed
by the end of next year. The terminal will be equipped with two units of
mobile harbour cranes and supported by six units of rubber-tyred gantry
It manages seven ports, namely Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu,
Kudat, Kunak and Sepangar bay port/oil terminal. — PortsWorld

Jesselton Waterfront Among Suria
Capital's Future Projects
KOTA KINABALU, Dec 29 (Bernama)
-- An ultra-modern waterfront development project known as the Jesselton
Waterfront is being conceptualised and planned for development at the vicinity
of Kota Kinabalu port here.
The project, the cost of which has
yet to be announced, would be undertaken by Suria Bumiria Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of state-owned Suria Capital Holdings Bhd.
